LONDON.

October 17. It now transpires that the announcement made oa the 14th instant that Mr Arthur O'Connor, M.P. for Queen's County, was in custody was premature. It now appears that, hearing that a warrant had been issued, he made hie escape to England, and is still at large. Serious rioting took place at Mallow in County Corkyesterday between the troops and the people. The former fired upon and then charged the rioters, several of whom were severely injured before they were dispersed. A large meeting under the auspices of the League, which was being held yesterday at Limerick, and which was attended by a great many people, was suppressed by order of the Government, a large force of police being despatched to disperse the assemblage. Recent speeches and letters by the English Democrats have denounced _in strong terms the course now being pursued by the Government in Ireland.
