MR TANNER'S CANDIDATURE.
[To the Editor of the DaILT Tb__!oi.__?h._ Sir,- -Previous to your editorial of the 14th instant favoring my candidature for the representation of Napier, and especially since then I have been asked by a large number of my Napier friends to allow myself to be put in nomination for the town, and I now take this opportunity of thanking you and them for tbe active support promised me if I stand, and I am only sorry that I cannot now alter the arangements I made some time ago, which will necessitate my absence from the colony during the next sitting of Parliament ; but on the first occasion that offers after the approaching elections I shall be happy to offer myself as a candidate for tbe representation of Napier, and. as my interests are and always have been identified with the town I shall hope for the same measure of support as I am assured would have been accorded to me on thi* occasion.—l am, &c,
Thomas Tannbb. Riverslea, September 21, 1881,
