EDUCATION BOARD SCHOLARSHIPS.
At the meeting of the Education Board, held yesterday, the following report from the committee appointed to consider the question of scholarships was read and adopted : —
1. That three scholarships of £30 each, tenable for two years, be awarded upon the results of the late examinations.
2. That scholarship-holders shall attend any school approved by the Board at which the higher branches of education are taught.
3. In the event of scholarship-holders attending schools in districts which require residence away from their homes an additional allowance of £20 per annum shall be granted.
4. That overtures be made to the trustees of the Napier Trust High School with the object of constituting the school under their control a district high school for boys, a portion of the endowment to be employed in establishing a high school for girls, and that the Bey. D. Sidey and Messrs Dobson and Harding confer with the trustees of the Napier Trust with this object.
5. That in the event of district high schools being established f utui'e winners of scholarships attend such schools.
6. That new regulations be drawn up before the expiration of the term for which it is now recommended to grant scholarships.
