THE RACING AND JOCKEY CLUBS.
[To the Editor of the Dailx Tble&hath.] Sib, —" True Blue" seems to be greatly exercised about the nominations in the Racing Club Handicap and Stakes, and the liberal support given thereto by members of the Jockey Club. Does " True Blue" imagine that owners of horses can afford to neglect the opportunity of obtaining sport and recouping themselves for expenses of training, &c. He cannot show one good reason why the members of the H.B.J.C. should not nominate; on the contrary, their action in the matter has shewn that they are above the petty jealousy that actuates " True Blue." His vulgar bint about the stakes being the attraction is simply offensive. It just amounts to this : the opportunity of sport is afforded them, and putting all ill-feeling aside they have taken advantage of it, and will no doubt do the same in future.—l am, &c, Member. September 3, 1881.
