September 2. The German Government has taken occpsion to announce that it will adopt the most stringent measures possible to suppress the strong anti-Jewish feeling which is manifesting itself throughout the country. September 3. The evidence recently apparent of a possible resumption of friendly relations between the German Government and the Vatican have now assumed a more definite character. It has transpired that the negotiations with regard to the position of the Church and State in Germany, which were some time back suspended, have now been reopened, and are expected to result in the permanent restoration of diplomatic relations between the Imperial Government and the Holy See.
