(PHOM OUR OWN COEBESPONDENT.; Wellington, September 3. Should circumstances permit Mr Murray this session will more the following notice of motion :—" That the Re-adjustment of Representation Bill should provide (I) that there should be no increase in the number of members of the House of Representatives ; (2) that the quota of population for country electorates should be determined after each decennial census before the adjustment of representation ; (3) that the quota of population of electorate boroughs (not being within five miles of other boroughs) should be one-fifth more than that required for country electorates ; (4) that cities with their adjacent boroughs and suburbs, having an aggregate population equal to thrice that required for the quota of country electorates, should be entitled to a second member, and therefore the quota additional which should entitle them to increased representation should for each member be twice the required quota of country electorates ; (5) that cities with their suburbs and adjacent borouglis entitled to elect two or more representatives should have the right by plebiscite of the adult population (or electors) to determine whether they will elect their representation by single constituences or as a united electorate, each elector having one vote only, ov they may adopt the mode of election known as Hare's system, or suitable modification thereof; (6) a re-adjustment of representation should be made after each decennial census in conformity with the above propositions, and so far as consistent therewith electoral divisions should be so arranged as to secure community of interests and the convenience of the people and well-defined boundaries. Provision should be made in the census forms by which householders may nominate persons, not being members of the Hoiise of Representatives, to be comtnissloners to re-arrange electoral divisions, the commissioners being ineligible for election to the House of Representatives at the next election thereafter ; (7) for the next re-adjustment of representation to take effect at the general election after the dissolution of the present Parliament, commissioners may be elected by the House of Representatives by ballot, or the Representation readjustment Bill may provide instead that Hare's system of representation may be adapted to the circumstances of the colony and adopted."
