LONDON.

August 15. In the House of Commons to-day, the Eight Hon. W. E. Gladstone moved the consideration of the Irish Land Bill as re-amended, in the House of Lords on Fridaj last, 12th inst. The Premier however, in his speech made no statement to indicate the line of action which the Government intended to follow in dealing with the measure. The damage to English wheat crops by excessive rain has been fully confirmed by further reports. It is expected that the yield this season will be below the average. Telegrams are also to hand from France reporting that a deficiency is expected in the wheat crops of that country. August 16. The debate on the Irish Land Bill as received a second time from the House of Lords, which wae opened last evening in the House of Commons, on the motion of Mr Gladstone that the report on the Lord's amendments be further considered, was continued to an early hour this morning. In course of the sitting several of the clauses as amended were rejected, and were restored to their original form, while in the case of others the changes made in the Upper House were modified, and in a few instances the alterations were assented to. The Irish members again violently objected to the action of the Governmeut in agreeing to any of the amendments of the Houseof Lords, aiad accused Ministers of being parties to a secret compromise with the Opposition in regard to the Bill. The consideration of the amendments was however finally concluded, and the Bill as re-amended was again ordered to be Bent to the House of Lords.
