OAMARU.

July 18. The water supply was used on Saturday for the first time on a large scale as a motive power, and the trial was highly successful. The whole of the machinery in Messrs Anderson's flour mill being daiven by a small engine. It is estimated that sufficient water is avilable to drive six similar mills. The event was celebrated by a luncheon to which Messrs Anderson invited the Borough Council and other leading citizens. Major Sumpter, was last week presented with a handsome sword as a sovenier from his old company. The Waitake Jockey Club last week determined to wind up.
