INVERCARGILL.
July 18. At the Police Court to-day Hugh Barlin, alias Baldwiug was convicted of fifty charges of obtaining goods by the issue of valueless cheques, and received cumulative sentances amounting to eighteen months. Tbe magistrate commented severely in the readiness with which storekeepers took cheques from unknown parties.
