At the wool auction to-day 2800 bales were catalogued. A firm demand was again exr enced. Recent ..telligence from Ireland reports the! the disorder in that country has somewhat abated, the rioting between the peasantry and the police having greaty subsided. The authorities however continue to take steps to prohibit all assemblies of people on occasions of sales and at scenes of the eviction of tenants.

News has been received that an accident has happened to a boat's crew of H.M.S. Monarch, turret ship, one of the Mediterranean squadron, while at torpedo practice. One officer was killed, and several seamen were severely injured. Favorable accounts are published as to the state of the English wheat crops. The Irish Land Bill was again under consideration in committee of the whole intheHouaeof Commons to-day, when the second clause was passed after some discussion.

At the wool sale to-day 6,400 bales were offered, making a total of 2,619,100 catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was again very firm. Twelve thousand bales have been withdrawn from auction since the commencement of the series.

A memorial, signed by the leading liberals of Bulgaria, has been addresed to Mr Gladstone on the subject of the relations between Prince Alexander and his Parliament. The memorialists characterise the Prince's actions as despotic, and appeal to Mr Gladstone to use his influence with his Government to induce a settlement of the Bulgarian difficulties.
