A plot has been discovered in St. Petersburg to assassinate the new Emperor of Russia. Twenty Nihilists were caught as they were concluding their plans. Tbe assassinists intended to use firearms. Terror is increasing in Russia owing to the activity of the Nihilists. Even the army is suspected. It has been considered advisable under the circumstances to postpone the coronation of the Emperor. The Executive has issued an important order instructing the police to enforce the majesty of the law. June 10.

The Fenians arrested for attempting to blow up the Liverpool Town Hall have been brought before the Police Court and remanded.

Of the provisions placed on board the Orient steamer Lusitania in Melbourne the milk perished, but the meat arrived in fair condition. The game and fruit were landed in splendid condition. «

A daring attempt has been made to rescue the prisoners M'Grath and Kevett, the Fenians who are confined in Liverpool gaol charged with attempting to blow up the Liverpool Town Hall with dynamite. The warders had previously received the alarm, and when the mob assembled in front of the prison they made their appearance armed. The would-be rescuers, numbering about 300, finding that preparations had been made to resist an attack, retreated. The military have been called upon to guard the prison.
