June 10. M'Garry, the greengrocer, has now been missing for a week, and _tiU nothing is known as to his whereabouts. Tbe last place he was seen was at the City Hotel, and when he lett it he went in the direction of the wharf. Mr Morrison, the bead master of the Napier Grammar Schoo?, has been temporarily appointed a master in the Auckland College.
In the action brought by the Telegraph Newspaper Company of Chvistchurch against Lottie Willrnot for £11 judgment was given for tbe plsintifD. A fire at Mr McLean's estate Fen Court, beyond Cambridge, destroyed a large two-storey building, consisting of stables and hayloft, and containing a t« •- ho.-se power engine, chaff cutter, aiui £100 worth of grass seed and implements. The fire originated hi the loft," but the origin is unknown. Tho building waa insured in the New Zeals-rd office.
At a meeting of the Grammar School governors to-day Mr Toll!. M.H.R., eaid he heard that the boys in the warehouses were being induced to sign a memorial
against University members of the board. He would guarantee to get ten signatures for those members to every one procured against them. I At the Waste Lands Board meeting to-day Mr Firth asked whether Sir George Grey had applied to inspect the books of the board in answer to his (Firth's) challenge to him to prove his statement that the board favored big landholders. The reply was that no application had been made.
