An adjourned tavjeting of the unemployed was bold to day, when the men proceeded in a body to inter-?icvr the Mayor re the laying of the v«aixT pipes, The Mayor said he could not proceed with this until the fittings arrived from home, but in the meantime any man could have a job at stone breaking if he liked. A list was then prepared of the unemployed, stating whether married or single, family if any, and how long out of work. This Mr Turubull, the member for the district, promised to take to Wellington with him to-day, pnd urge upon the Government the necessity" for taking immediate steps to relieve the distress. The unemployed meet again to-morrow.
