June 9. On Tuesday night last the house of Mr Libbeft. at Kaiapoi, was broken into and a quantity of jewellery stolen. Heavy rain set in last night. It is still continuing, and is much required by the farmers. At the Magistrate , a Court this morning a man named William Fowler was nentenced to cix months imprisonment for an attempted till robbery. He pushed down the woman in charge of the fchop, but was secured by a gentleman passing at the time.
