The local agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received from the London office tbe following produce telegram, dated Ist instant: —Tho competition for wool is increasing, and quotations are on an average id to Id better than at the opening for all sorts, except combing washed, scoured, fine greasy, and washed and scoured, the market for which is unchanged. Up to date 166,000 bales have been sold, 95,000 of which have been taken for export.
(BY CABLE.) London, June 1. Consols, 102|. Five per cent New Zealand 10-40 loan, 105 ; five per cent 1889 loan, 105; four and a half per cent 1879-1904 loan, 103. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs and Australian tallow are unchanged. Best Scotch pig iron, No. 1. free on board in Clyde has declined to 46s 6d ; galvanised iron, 26-guage, has advanced to £18 per ton.
