May 20.
A metion of M. Bardoux for the abolition of the Scrutin d'arrondissement, and the substitution of the Scrutin di'Liste in its place, was, after much discussion, adopted by the Chamber of Deputies yesterday. Telegrams have been received by the Government from the headquarters of the French army in Tunis to the effect that the advance of the troops has been vigorously opposed by the native Arab tribes, and that severe fighting has taken place.
