Messrs Murroy, "Roberts and Co. hare reoeiued the following cablegram under date London, May lOtb ; —The wool sales opened ■with a very large attendance of buyers, the foreign buyere being the principal operators. Prices for washed and greasy merino and good oross-bred are about equal to those of closing rates of last sales. The New Zealand t oan and Mercantile Agency Company report, under date London, May 10th—The wool sales opened to-day at an average decline of 5 per cent, on the closing rates of the last sales. The sales comprise 337,000 bales. The opening catalogue contained 5100 bales ; 26,000 bales hare been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. Competition by both Home and foreign buyers is active.

London, May 10. Galvanised iron, 26 gauge, has declined to £16 per ton.. Best Scotch pig iron, No. 1, free on board ill the Clyde, has declined to 48s per ton.
Melbottrns, May 12
There is a better demand for New Zealand oats, which are now quoted at 2s 9d to 3s 4d per bushel. -
