AUCKLAND.
May 12. Great inconvenience and loss is caused by Mr Barstow, the only Resident Magistrate here, going South to attend tbe Judicial Commission. The District Judge is also away. The charge against Simms of attempting the murder of the girl at Riverhead is proceeding at the Police Court. The medical evidence shews that that several veins were severed by tbe wounds, but the knife, fortunately missed the principal blood vessels, and it is almost a miracle that the wounds were not fatal. Sir George Grey addresses the electors here on Monday night in the Theatre Royal.
