Captain Steele, the agent for Messrs Grant and Foster, has settled all outstanding difficulties, and expects to put some of the settlers who are already here on the land at once.
Mr Wickham, of the Free Lance, was committed to trial yesterday on tbe charge of libelling Mr Hurst, M.H.R. for City West. Bail was allowed—himself in £200, with two sureties in £100 each.
Mr Justice Richmond in Chambers to-day gave leave to appeal in the case of the National Bank v. John Uncles. In
two applications under the Land Transfer Act for directions his Honor sustained the Registrar's refusal to register certain lauds, the titles to which had not been individualised. The Tararua brought six Chinese from Sydney for Auckland. They are described as miners. The police cases brought against publicans for breaches of the Licensing Act broke down.
