DUNEDIN.

April 23

Mr Simpson, R.M., and Mr Maitland, have been invited - to investigate the charges against the Benevolent Institute management. The Government declined to do so, as the institution is a public one.

Early on Thursday morning a sixroomed house on Green Island, belonging to Mr George Wallace, was destroyed by fire. It was insured in the Victoria office for £160. Mr Wallace estimates the value of the tenement at £120, or about that amount, as the place was unoccupied for six weeks. It is suposed that the fire is the work of incendiarism.
