NORSEWOOD.

April 19,1881. A tea meeting was hold last evening in fche Ormondville school-room, which proved very successful. After those present had partaken of an excellent repast which had been provided, Mr Eobertshaw addressed the_ meeting in a short bufc capital speech, in which, after speakiDg of his early impressions of the Bush settlements, and the change hie sentiments had undergone in that respect, he urg?d the necessity of erecting a churoh in Ormondville. A plan of the proposed site was upon the table, and was handed round for inspection. Mr Smith, who has offered a site for the church, then rose and read the names of those who contributed up to that time, and then invited further subscriptions. The following is a list up to that date : —Messrs Wilding and Bull have promised a quantity of timber 5 Mr George Hansen gives blocks and a few thousand shingles, and will help to clear the site; Mr (jilmour presents a frame for the building. Mr H. S. Tiffen subscribes £20 ; Mr Eathorne, £2 2s ; Mr Bailey, £1 Is ; Mr E. W. Knowles, £1 Is ; A Friend, £1 Is ; Mrs Toms, £1 Is ; Mr Brown, £4 4s ; Mr Small, £1 Is ; Mr Wild, £1 Is 5 Mr Newland, £1 Is ; Mr Bruford, £1 Is 5 Mr Bolton, £1 Is 5 Mrs McKnight, £1 Is 5 Mrs Baines, £1 Is ; Mr Brabazon, £1 Iβ ; Mr Dean, £1 Is ; Mr Q-. Hansen, £1 Is ; Mr D. Davis, £2 2s ; Mr Baines, £2 2s 5 Mr Terry, £1 Is ; Mr Gilmour, £1 Is ; Mr Divers, £2 2s ; A Friend, £1 Is ; Mr J. Leighton, £2 2a ; Mr Clusy, 10s ; A Friend, £1 Is j Two Young Churchmen, 10s 6d. Total, £54 12s 6d—of which about £31 10s 6d was subscribed in. the room.
A committee of seven was then elected, five to form a quorum, the names being Messrs Henry Smith, L. Brabazon, GhNew« man, 0. Baines, W. Dean, L. (Hmour, and J. Leigh ton.
After hymn 24, " Sun of My Soul," had been sung, the proceedings closed with the benediction, delivered by Mr Eobertshaw. There must have been about 130 people present, all of whom seemed to take a deep interest in the proceedings.
It being deemed advisable that a com* mittee meeting should be held at once, the members of it assembled, and the following resolutions were proposed and agreed to i—
Proposed by Mr W. Dean, and seconded by Mr 0. Baines, " That Mr Henry Smith, sen., be elected chairman of the committee."
Proposed by Mr J". Brabazon, and seconded by Mr Q-. Henson, " That Mr R. N. Tome, teacher, Ormondville, receive all correspondence and be secretary to the committee."
It was also resolved that Messrs H. Smith, sen., 0. Baines, and J". Brabazon be a committee to sign all cheques.
Proposed by Mr Henson, and seconded by Mr C. Baines, " That the question of the site be discussed at the next meeting." Proposed by Mr C. Baines, and seconded by W. Dean, " That the next meeting be held on Wednesday, the 20th inst."
In conclusion, Mr Robertshaw informed the committee that the Bishop of Waiapu deeply regretted his inability to attend the meeting, but hoped they would be very successful. This closed the entire proceedings.
