Mr Rolleston, Native Minister, arrived here last evening, and was engaged till a late hour with departmental matters. He left this morning with the officer in charge of native affairs to interview Tukukino, the native chief whs prevents the road being made through to the Upper Thames. Instructions have been given to proceed with a section of three miles of the Thames and Waikato railway. This contract will take the line to deep water in the Thames river inside the bar.
The claims at Te Aroha continue working, and all the machinery for a battery is on the ground.
