Dan O'Brien, the well-known racing man, while passing from one carriage to another on the Southern railway yesterday, fell, and a carriage passed over one of his feet taking off all the toes. Four deputations waited on the Premier this morning, including one from the promoters of the West Coasl railway, and another from the unemployed. The Cathedral authorities ordered all the ridge tiles for the from a local firm as an experiment, which has proved an utter failure, the tiles being so bad.
