Of 600 soys; the second horse to receive 75 soys. and the third 25 soys. from the stakes; 2\ miles. Sir George, 6.t 101b (Hird) 1 Libeller, 7st 41b (Williams) 2 Natator, 9st (Derrit) 3 Badsworth, Redeemer, and My Dream were scratched.
Of the tea horses left in, Randwick, on the strength of his victory the preceding day, w?s made a favorite, Natator and Libeller being next in demand. After three breaks away, in which Sir George and Randwick were conspicuous, the flag fell to a good start, Libeller jumping aWay with the lead, Randwick next; then came the rest in a buncb, Dan being last to get away. The field was a pretty one as they came round the bend into the straight. Libeller was then leading up to tbe stand, with Randwick on his whip hand, Soukar third, Rocket fourth, and Natator leading the rest, with Dan and King Quail bringing i up the rear. Going round the top turn and along the back Libeller still held the lead, with Randwick, Opawa, aud Natator in good positions next, Rocket falling gradually to the rear. As they came round the bottom turn into the straight Randwick could not be held back, and he came on almost level with Libeller, Natator close to their tails third, Opawa, still going well, fourth, Sir George fifth, Norseman and Dan next in order, Rocket hopelessly in the rear. After getting round the top turn Dan improved his position, as did Opawa, who passed Natator and went on third to Libeller and Randwick, who were still in common. Sir George now came up and ran in compauy with Natator, till about half a mile from home, when he passed Natator and Dan, and went in pursuit of the leader?, with whom he soon got on terms. As the colt came thus prominently to the front cries of " Sir George has it " came from the ring. Entering the straight Sir George had slightly the best of it, and although Libeller and Randwick kept close up, by dint of determined riding the colt bad them settled at the grand stand enclosure, and won at last by a length. Natator was brought up with a grand rush at the finish, beating Randwick for third place, Libeller being half a length ahead. Dan was fifth. King Quail sixth; the rest tailed off. Time, 4min. lOsecs.
