The local agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received the following telegram from the London office, under date Ist March : — Competition for wool is decreasing, and quotations are on on average id to ld lower than at the opening. Up to date 90,000 bales have been sold. The wheat market is firm j Adelaide and Victorian are worth 49s 6d, and New Zealand 47s per 4961b5. The tallow market is quiet, mutton 36s 6cl, and beef 34s per cwt. The leather market is quiet; best sides, per lb.
(BY CABLE.) London, March 2. Consols have advanced to 99f. Adelaide wheat, ex-warehouse, is quoted at 50s.
Five per cent New Zealand 10-40 loan is quoted at 102, ex-dividend ; five per cent. New Zealend 1889 loan is quoted at 109 ; four and a half per cent New Zealand 1879----1904 loan is quoted at 97_.
