THE TARADALE SCHOOL.

[To the Editor op the Daily Telegraph.] S IR) —Mr Waterhouse's explanation of Miss Snell's appointment to the Taradale school shows very bad taste, and was certainly not called for. Mr Waterhouse should bear in mind that there was only one application for the situation; the Committee, therefore, had to choose between recommending the applicant or allowing the school to be a teacher short, which would not have been fair to the master. Mr Waterhouse says the appointment has caused much unfavorable comment, and the present Committee is acredited with the honor of having recommended the applicant. If Mr Waterhouse knows of anything discreditable in the applicant or the recommendation, it is his duty, as one of the Committee, to sift the matter to the bottom, and get the wrong righted ; and not by an injudicious letter to the daily paper, cause the public to surmise all kinds of things prejudicial alike to the school and applicant.—l am, &c, Boot. Taradale, March 1, 1881.
