Second Dat. .;- i r [BY TETjEGEAPH]. ' Dunedin, February 26. There was fine weather for the second day's meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club. The attendance was very large. TAIXY-HO HANDICAP. Of 60 iBOV ; one mile and a half; over seven flights of hurdles. Sailor Boy, 9st 71b 1 The Agent, 12st 2 Milo, 9st 9lb 3 Little John, Bst 51b ... 0 Betting—3 to 1 agst Agent, 2 to 1 Sailor Boy, 4 to 1 Little John and Milo. Milo went away with a lead and took the firet jump a length in front of Sailor Boy, who waa about the same distance ahead of Little John and Agent, who rose at the hurdles similtaneously. At the stand Little John had assumed the lead, followed by Sailor Boy and the Agent, while Milo had already fallen back last, as in yesterday's race. All were jumping well. By the time a mile haid been covered The Agent and Sailor Boy bad drawn close up to Little John, and both passing him a quarter of mile from home they raced home at a tremendous pace. Sailor Boy had a slight advantage turning into the straight and with an occasional reminder from the whip held his own gallantly, stalling the Agent off and winning cleverly by a bare length, Milo a bad third. Time, 3mins, 6h sees.
CITY STAKES, Of 150 soys; a mile and a distance. Hilarious, Bst 3lb 1 Sylvanus, 7st 71b 2 Mischief, 7st 71b 3 —'Sir Modred was scratched. Betting—2 to 1 on Hilarious. Hilarious got away quickeet, with Sylvanus a length behind, Mischief, •whose trainer was hanging on to her head, last. The pace was good most of the way, but the respective positions of the horses were never altered, except that they closed up together when the half distance was covered. In the last quarter of a mile Hilarious gradually forged ahead and ultimately won, hands down, by six lengths, Sylvanus second, Mischief last. Time—2 mins. B|secs. NOVEL RACE. Of 80 soys ; a mile and a quarter. Maude, 6st 51b 1 Jaspar, sst 101b 2 Sir William, 7st 3lb ... 3 Betting—2 to 1 against Playboy, 3 to 1 Huntingdon, 5 to 1 feir William, 6 to 1 any of the others. At the fall of the flag Sultana, Sir Wliliam, and Jasper went away in front and for three quarters of a mile kept there, with a clear gap of half a dozen lengths between them and the rest, who were all in a bunch. At this point Maude cleared out from the ruck and ■went on in pursuit of the leaders, followed by Huntingdon, but the latter was early done with, and fell back beaten. Maude meanwhile collared the three leaders, and after a fine race home beat them by half a length from Jasper, who "was the same distance ahead of Sir William Huntingdon at the latter's girths. Time, 2min. 24secs.

Natator, Bst lllb .;; ..; { Hilarious, 7st ;-.-; , i; 2 Lady Emma, 7st 21b ..; 3 The Governor, 7st 21b .;. 0 Betting , —3 to 2 on Natator, 2 to 1 against Hilarious, 4 to 1 Lady Emma, 6 to .1 The Governor. Natator got all the best of the start, but the Governor and Hilarious pushed to the front in the first 100 yards, and led past the stand a length before Lady Emma, Natatoi coming last. At the mill Hilarious went up alongside of The Governor, followed almost immediately by Natator and Lady Emma, all passing Mr Horsford'B colt. Natator soon got on terms with Hilarious, and passing him before entering the straight came away and won with a good deal in hand by a length. Lady Emma was a good third, The Governor last. Time, 3 mm. 20 sec. PRIVATE TROTTING MATCH, For £200 a side ; three miles. Our Pony, 5 sees start ... 1 Native Oat, scratch ... 2 Betting—2 to 1 on Native Cat. Native Cat broke repeatedly, and Our Pony won by 250 yards. Time, Bnuin. 35se<:. BAILWAY PLATE Of 60 soys., the gift cf Mr David Proudfoot; three-quarters of a mile; weight for age.
