CHRISTCHURCH.
February 21. Messrs F. Dunford, 0. Dobson, B. Boulton, and J. Grierson (btroke), have been selected to represent Canterbury in the rowing match with Otago on February 28th. A contract for £12,000 has been accepted for the construction of a railway from Christcburch to Sumner. A seaman belonging to the ship Pleiades, while drunk, had a narrow escape of being drowned on Saturday night. He was rescued by Captain Letten.
