February 14. The Christshurch art exhibition closed

on Saturday. It was only moderately successful in attendance.

A regatta is to bo held at Kaiapoi on Mania 17th.

A large mob prevented the Mormons holding their usual weekly service it: Cathedral Square last night. The Mormons were hustled about considerably, and had to be taken to the police depot for safety till the mob dispersed. The man Downing, who escaped from the lunatic asylum a few days ago, was recaptured yesterday. The weather is very hot. The harvest is progressing most satisfactorily, and all kinds of grain are in splendid condition.
