Before H. Eyre Kenny, Esq., B.M. CIVIL CASES.

Ruddick v. Brighouse. This was a claim for £18 16a 6d for goods supplied. The evidence was taken on Monday last, and His Worship reserved judgment until this morning. His Worship said tbat the evidence in the case was very conflicting ; he had gone over it carefully, and tbe judgment would be for the defendant, with costs and counsel's fee. LAHCENY. Flora Somers was charged, on the information of Detective Grace, with stealing one glass jug and one antimacasser, the property of Edward Ashton. Ihe prisoner pleaded guilty to stealing the jug, and was sentenced to two months imprisonment with hard labour. The same prisoner was also charged with stealing a water-bottle and vase, the property of T. Shirley. She pleaded guilty to stealing the bottle, and was sentened to two months imprisonment with hard labor, to commence at the expiration of the former sentence. CRUELTY TO A HOUSE. W. Palmer was charged with cruelty to a horse by driving it while it was suffering from a number of sores on its back. Constable Irwin said he received information about the horee, and on examination found that it bad five large sores on its back. His Worship said that a heavy penalty was attached to this kind of offence. The prisoner was liable to a fine of £20, but, as he believed that the offence had been committed through carelessness, be would fine the prisoner £1 and costs. CHIMNEY ON FIBE. T. Andrews was charged with allowing his chimney to be on fire, and pleaded guilty. He was fined 10s and costs.
