TARADALE SCHOOL COMMITTEE
A- meeting of the Taradale School Committee was held on Monday evening, all the members being present.
The masters of the Taradale and Meanee school sent in demands for stationery, etc., which were granted.
A ( letter was also read from the 'secretary of the Education Board, enclosing the names of the four candidates for election as members of the Board. After voting by ballot the result was found to be in favor of Messrs Dobson, Lee, and Sidey.
The following resolutions were duly passed, viz : — That pupils above the age of fifteen be permitted to attend the schools, providing there is sufficient accommodation.
That the masters of tbe two schools be requested to furnish a record of school requisites remaining on hand that were supplied by the late committee, also the amounts received for sale of the same during the past year.
That a pic-nic be provided for the gcholars of the Taradale and Meanee schools, each member of the committee to canvass for subscriptions for that purpose, and any surplus funds remaining to devoted for the punhase of prizes for be distribution at the end of the present year. Tbe date of the picnic to be Wednesday the 23rd instant, at the Greenmeadows if permission can be obtained. Mr G. Rymer having generously offered to convey the Meanee scholars to and fro gratis. The secretary was instructed to apply to the Education Board for funds for fencing and supplying the Meanee school with window-blinds, also for a small sum to execute some slight repairs at the Taradale school.
It was also decided that tenders be called for cleaning the schools for the sresent5 resent year, and that a portion of the 'aradale school grounds should he fenced
for the accommodation of horses used by the scholars attending school.
The meeting of the committee will be held on the second Tuesday in each month.
