AUCKLAND REGATTA.

(By Telegraph.)

Auckland, January 20. It is a splendid day for the regatta, especially for the sailing races.

The intercolonial gig race for £100 has been postponed till later in the day owing to the lumpy sea. There are only three local entries.

For the champion schooner race of £100 eight fine vessels have entered, namely the Caledonia, Linda Weber, Edith, Sovereign, Belle Brandon, Torea, Borealis, and Myrtle. A good start was effected, and there was a fine sail down the harbor. At the North Head the Sovereign was leading, with the Borealis and Edith close up.
