WELLINGTON.
January 26. The captain of the schooner Fketwing, who came in first in the coaster's race at the regatta, but who was disqualified on the ground of not having sailed the proper course, has summoned the Regatta Committee for the amount of the prize money and trophy. The case is to be heard on Monday. Arrived, Isle of Erin, barque, from Glasgow. Her cargo consists of waterworks plant. At the Appeal Court this morning judgment was given in the Crown appeal case of Murphy v. the Queen, an application to reverse the judgment upon a verdict given at the Supreme Court, Christchurch, prisoner being sentenced to four years' penal servitude for forgery. The application was successful, and the prisoner will be discharged.
