January 20.

Claude Downing, who escaped from the lunatic asylum some days ago, was recaptured yesterday. A considerable number of shares in the proposed West Coast railway company were applied for yesterday. The company propose to work the railway as well as construct it.

The thunderstorm yesterday was heavy, but of short duration. We have now beautifully fine weather for the harvest.
