WELLINGTON.

January 18. At the Magistrate's Court to-day the proprietor of the Princess Theatre Hotel was fined £o on two informations of selling liquor on Sunday. The proprietor of the Victorian Hotel, for refusing to admit a police sergeant on Sunday without unnecessary delay, was fined £2, and his license endorsed. It has been decided that the property tax will be payable either, at the end of February or early in March. The Act requires it to be paid in two instalments for the year, but it will be necessary to have the dates for each moiety to close together, in order that the tax will he collected during the financial year. By the original intention the first moitty was due some months ago.
