January 17.

The Qvalau brings news from Rarotonga of the seizure of the schooner Hammonia at Pukapuka by the mate Stotler and cook Ficht. They left the capt. on the Island. The natives on board overpowered the mutineers on the second day out, and returned tbe schooner to the capt. Iv the struggle Ficht received fatal injuries, and died next day. Stotler became delirious, and died several days later. The Taniwha and Secret, the second and third boats at the Melbourne regatta, were both built by Mr Niccol, of Auckland.
