THE CRICKET MATCH ENGLISH V. COLONIALS.

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.! Sib, —Having received a post card inviting me to play in a cricket match English v. Colonials on the 15th instant, I was astonished to find by a local in your issue of the Bth that the match had been abandoned on account of tbe impossibility of obtaining the use of the Hastings ground. Now, Sir, I heard myself, in the up train on Friday evening, that there would be no such difficulty in the way of the match being played, Mr J. Williams the secretary of the Hawke's Bay Club, being the guarantee. Why, may I ask. has the match been abandoned.—l am,
