HAWKE'S BAY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The shooting in the handicap match for the silver cup presented by Mr R. Stuart took place yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a victory for Lieut. Pell with .52 points. Towards the close of the shooting at the 400 yard range the match became somewhat exciting. Pram and Chicken had tied, both having made 19 points at the 400 yards. Hooper then went in, and with 17 brought his score up to 52, and was looked upon as the certain winner, as there were only Pell and Cato to shoot, and the latter could not possibly reach Hooper, and it would require Pell to make tbe possible 20 to win. Pell went to work, and having made a bull's eye with his sighting shot he made five others consecutively, thus making him equal points with Hooper, and having made the greater number of points at tbe longest range he was declared the winner. The whole of the shooting at 400 yards was remarkably good. The following are the full scores:— MR. R. STUART'S SILVER CUP.
