CHILDREN’S COMICS
Censorship Committee Advocated The Wellington Education Board yesterday received a reply from the Education Department regarding its repre-' sentations on literature, unsuitable for children, specially “comic cuts.’’ “The ‘comics’ have boon examined by various officers,” the department stated, “and they are not the worst of their kind. Many of the blocks are ugly and crude, but they are probably recognized for what they are worth by the children just as readily as by adults. You can be assured that steps will be taken to have the worst kinds suppressed, specially those featuring the sex motif.’’ Mr. 11. Duckworth said there should be provision for a committee similar ■to that which dealt with adult reading, and education boards should have representation on such a committee. On the motion of the chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer, it was decided to ask for representation on any such committee which might be set up.
