New Zealand’s Name

Sir, —I disagree with Mr. Johannes Andersen’s suggestions iu ‘‘The Dominion” on Saturday that our present clumsy and foreign sounding name should be altered on the lines he has suggested. If any alteration is made it should be called’ Sealand, a suggestion I put forward many years ago. Sealand is one of the prettiest names in the English language, to say nothing about legend and tradition, which say that it has been fished out of the sea. The whole population of this country would save writing three letters millions of times every week, which would be a great saving in space and time.—l am. etc. —W. STUART WILSON. Wellington, July 3.
