A pensioner, Joseph James Saunders, aged 43. appeared in the .Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, before Mr. Stout, SAL, atpl pleaded guilty to a charge of having carried on the business of a bookmaker.

Detective-Sergeant Thompson said that two detectives raided accused’s house on Saturday morning, and found gaming materia!. L’G/11/- had been taken by accused in doubles, and £24/5/- in single bets.
