RACING FINANCE
The annual meeting of racing club delegates to the New Zealand Racing Conference will be held in Wellington on Friday of next week. The statement of accounts shows that conference income for the year amounted to £12,20'1, of which £O-199 was contributed In levies by the affiliated racing clubs and the Trotting Conference. Registration fees brought in £892, sales of the Stud Book, including cutrent volume and back numbers, £7IG. Fees for the broadcasting rights from the main centres amounted to £9OO. The excess of income over expenditure for the year was £1099. More than half of the conference expenditure of £ll,OOO was in the stipendiary stewards’ and racecourse inspectors’ accounts, the former requiring £3302 and the latter £llB4O. Accumulated funds at May 31. including the balance of income over expenditure for the current year, amount to £0174. Fees earned bv apprentice riders during the year and held in trust by the conference amounted to £15,907, of which £8093 was credited to apprentices and £7271 to their employers. Accumulated funds in the general trust account, which is the conference "accident” fund, amount to. £13,621.
