CHRISTCHURCH, July 2. There was again very little work. Of Interest at Ricearton today. A cold wind kept many trainers from the course, ana road work was once more resorted to with several teams. The No. 1 grass was open for fast work, and a few horses were spriuted on it. . T Foxhaven and John o London ran hali a mile in 52, and Paladeo was given a circuit of strong work. Some Sing aud Lyndon Lea went over the same ground in 52 2-5, without being hard ridden. The latter will be" ridden at Trentham by L. JEllis, whose only other mount so far on the first day will be Immediate. a Foxchase ‘and Hippodrome ran seven furlongs comfortably in 1.33, the last, four in 52. These stableruates are both in the Te Aro Hack Handicap at Trentham, aud Foxchase is also in the Whyte Handicap. He is likely to start in this, and A. C. Messervy lias been engaged to ride him. A. Jenkins will ride Hippodrome. Kileato and Roman Son, who were given some light schooling during the week, will bo ridden in the Vittoria Hack Hurdles by G. Barr and I. Walther respectably. These stableniates, who raced with distinction in heavy going at Wlngatui 4 both race prominently next Saturday. Walther will also ride Donadea in the hack steeple, chase.
