CHARGES DISMISSED

On charges of stealing between August 16. 1913. and May 19. 1911, 158 gallons of petrol, valued at £5B/4/1, the property of the New Zealand Army Department, and • two batteries, valued at. £4. the property of a person unknown. Thomas McMurray Stevenson, warrant officer in charge of workshops, Transport Section. Army Headquarters. Wellington, appeared before Mr. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrates Court yesterday. In dismissing both charges, the magistrate said that he was not satisfied with the evidence, and that there was nothing to show that 458 gallons of petrol were missing. . T>etpetivp-S<'rgc?int. Thompson prosecuted and Mr. A. B. Sievwrlgbt appeared for Stevenson. Fifteen witnesses were called to givo evidence.
