EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL

A decision to renew its claim for the establishment of a maternity hospital in Eastbourne was made at a meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council. The Minister of Health and the Wellington Hospital Board are again being approached tn the matter. The council expressed concern at the serious erosion which has taken place ou the foreshore. A number of properties are in danger of being washed away. The work of protecting the properties is a major one, it was stated. It was decided that the member for the district, Mr. Coml’cs, be requested to arrange for an interview with the Minister of Works, with a view of enlisting the aid of the Government in dealing with the situation. At the suggestion of the ratepayers’ association, the Post and Telegraph Department is again being approached with a request that a public telephone' be installed at Muritai.
