Mr. M. F. Vigeveno, Consul of the Netherlands, 'has returned to Wellington from Auckland.
Sir Charles Norwood and Dlr. Gordon J. Reid were re-elected ' president and vice-president respectively 01. the Wellington branch, of the Navy League at the annual meeting this week. It was mentioned that, the secretary, Mr. R. Darroeh, bad been associated with the branch for 38 of its 40 years’ existence.
Mr. A. G. Cockroft, who is retiring from the position of district traffic manager for the Railways Department at Wellington, entered tha service in 1903. He served in various capacities in the Canterbury and Invercargill districts till 1942 when he was transferred to Wanganui. In 1927 he was placed in the divisional superintendent s office, Auckland. In 1930 he was appointed to a position in the transportation superintendent’s office, Wellington, where in 1938 he became transport officer, and in 1940 chief clerk to the transportation superintendent. He assumed the position of district traffic manager in Wellington in October, 1913. Mr. Cockroft went over seas in 1914 with the Railway Contingent,
