PRESENCE OF PRESS
Meetings Of Patriotic Committee Before the Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee proceeded to deal with matters on the order Paper meeting yesterday afternoon. Mr. H. Green drew attention to the presence of representatives of the Press and said that he was under the impression that there was a resolution standing on the records excluding them from meetings. The honorary secretary. Mr. V. Ward, said that at the last meeting it had been decided that the Press should be invited to send its representatives, or to receive a report, as it chose. Mr. J. H. Collins: I was present at the last meeting, Mr. Chairman, and I have no recollection of it having been dealt with. Mr. Ward: It was done at the provincial meeting, and I thought it was also done bv the metropolitan committee. Mr. Blackley: To put things in order I will move the previous motion be rescinded. „ ~ , , Mr. W. H. Price: I think the Press should be present. This is a public organization handling 'public moneys, and the public is entitled to know what is done with its money. Mr. Collins: I think it should be said that the Press has reported matters from these meetings which should never have been reported. , . Mr. Blackley’s motion having been carried without dissent, the committee proceeded to the business on the order paper. A number of items were passed over, being reserved for consideration in committee after the Press had left the committee room.
