Saturday’s Soccer Matches
Waterside, the only team hitherto unbeaten in the first division competitions of the Wellington Football Association this season, met its Waterloo on Saturday Moera Stop Out beat them. 3-1. and 'avenged a defeat earlier in the season. Waterside are still the leaders ’by one point from Moera Stop Out. The game between the competition leaders attracted a large crowd of spectators to flic Basin Reserve, and they saw a hard, fast game with the issue in doubt till the end. Moera Stop Out had the 'better of the play and deserved their win. In the first half the only wore was a penalty goal to Moera Stop Out. No further score occurred till nnar the end of the game. Just after the Waterside goalkeeper, Ward, had magnificently deflected an acuteangled shot out of the goal. Sharpe sent the ball oast Ward into the net. Straight from the kick-off Waterside took the hall down the field and Mildenhall scored.- J his showed the game was still anybody s. but a minute before full time Jones got a third goal for Moera. Lower Hutt 7, Marist fl, Comrades 4, Technical Old Boys 2. 4 In the Power Cup competition Diamond, who have played eight games, are leading with 14 pointe from Moera Stop Out, who have played nine games and have l.» points, and from Petone, who have played eight games and also have 13 points.
