June 22. “Though the weather has improved, the mud has prevented large-scale crosscotmtry movement.” states today s Allied communique from Italy. “Advanced elements on the Adriatic sector reached Fermo. Eighth Army troops north-east of Foligno are now approaching Camerino and Noceraumbra. Limited gains against strong resistance were made north of Perugia and in the vicinity of Lake Irasimeno. Fifth Army troops are now 15 miles north of Grosseto.” “Amazing Speed” Developed. (Received June 23, 1.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 22.
The Gentian withdrawal in Itaiy_is attaining amazing speed, says the Exchange Telegraph correspondent tn Algiers. Eighth Army troops, who are nearing Camerino and Noce Roumbra, have cleared the town of Chiugliana. Another Allied column has captured a point three miles from Magione.
