VERSATILE MEMBERS

Young Peoples’ Revue

Forty-eight enthusiastic young members of the Gaiety Club in Wellington hist night presented their "Gaiety Follies ot 1944” for the first time in public. There was an interested audience of parents and friends in the Blue Triangle Hall and of the proceeds, half will go to the club s general funds and half to the concert party’s funds. Since November they have staged their revue at four local camps, twice at a service club and at the Seamen's Mission aud for the patients of Ewart Hospital. The show was their own idea entirely and they have produced and rehearsed it among themselves at the club. The youngest performer was not much more than 15 years of age. The entertainment was made up of songs, ballets and burlesque items, plentifully interwoven, with humour. There were three scenes—on a ship, in a cabaret and iu Hawaii. The boys presented clever burlesque ballets, parodies of the girls’ preceding items The dancing of the girls was good, specially the tap duo and tap ballet, one ot the' members being responsible for training the girls, some of whom had not danced before. Costumes were made by themselves and the band was composed of eight boys. The only outsider taking part was Mr. Maurice Hawken. who acted as compere.
